Ellen Schwartz and Artist Mike Rosen from Lady Mystics

There are people that you meet in life that have a light around them and bring so much illumination to others. One of those people is Ellen Schwartz. On this episode of Finding Your Bliss, we talk to Ellen about her beloved son Jacob Schwartz, who was born with a rare neurodegenerative disease called Canavan disease. The world learned from Jacob Schwartz, who was full of love and of goodness about how to be a better person, and how to live life with positivity and love. This show is dedicated to his memory. Ellen has written two books, Lessons from Jacob: A Disabled Son Teaches his Mother about Courage, Hope and the Joy of Living Life to the Fullest and Without One Word Spoken: 18 Life Lessons from Jacob. Ellen is also the Co-founder of Jacob’s Ladder and the Founder of Project Give Back. She was honoured with A Woman of Action award by Israel Cancer Research Fund. She was awarded a Queens Jubilee medal and in 2016 she was presented with the Meritorious Service Decoration by the Governor General of Canada. First up, Limore Zisckind who overcame an advanced breast cancer diagnosis with her special brand of “Aggressive Positivity”, which is now a new book available on Amazon. Her album “Alive” went viral triggering newspaper and international TV coverage. You’re going to meet her and hear her sing today. Two Inspirational Stories: Wendy Murphy and CZN

On this episode of Finding Your Bliss, we have a very special show featuring two incredible stories. Our first guest, Wendy Murphy was in a car accident when she was only 18 years old, leaving her confined to a wheelchair, and because of her ability to focus on the positive and her tremendous bravery, she found a new life purpose and became an inspiration to so many people. She tells us about her work as a model after the accident, with Rhona Mickelson, who was the founder of a talent agency for the physically challenged, which she first heard about on the Roger, Rick and Marilyn Show. She also talks about her career for over 8 years as a City TV television reporter and her incredible new book, Wendy Murphy’s Law: Whatever Can Go Wrong, Can Be Made Right.

Also on the program, Naomi Parness, a celebrated television reporter for over 20 years at CTV, who just reinvented her career launching KPW Communications, a PR and Communications company. And finally, after years of working in the food industry, Neil Zworth did a complete career 180, becoming a highly successful fitness trainer catering to the 50 plus crowd. He achieves this by doing at home personal training, and is even doing virtual training by Zoom, Skype and FaceTime. There is also a very calming meditation at the end of the show that is designed to reduced the anxiety and fear that many of us are experiencing.

Canadian Broadcasting Icon Dini Petty and Psychotherapist and Author Victoria Lorient Faibish

Canadian Broadcasting icon Dini Petty guest stars on Finding Your Bliss this week. She became a household name in the 1970s when she was the first woman to fly a pink helicopter, while simultaneously broadcasting traffic reports for the radio station ‘CKEY’. She has been described as Canada’s Oprah, and she was part of the original and groundbreaking City TV News Team, for City Pulse News. Also she was the trailblazing, original host of City TV’s City Line and the celebrated host of the award-winning and longest running national television talk show in the country. She has conducted over 20,000 interviews and talks on the show about notable celebrities such as Red Skelton, Sarah the Duchess of York, Lauren Bacall, Harrison Ford, Cloris Leachman, just to name a few. In recent years Dini has turned her love of poetry into a bestselling children’s book, The Queen, the Bear and The Bumblebee, and she has been nominated and recognized for numerous awards for her talk show and documentary work. Singing and How to Become a More Powerful Performer

On the show this week, Founder and President of Positive People Army, Heidi Allen is in studio to talk to Judy all about positivity, and how we can become a positive person in order to live a more joyful and fulfilling life. Also on the show, Certified Life Fulfilment Coach and Television Producer from ET Canada, Sharon Stokes tell us all about how we can take steps to live more positively. As inspirational author Sharon Adler writes: “When you are joyful, when you say yes to life and have fun and project positivity all around you, you become a sun in the center of every constellation, and people want to be near you.”

Mindfulness

Mindfulness is a meditative technique that falls under the broader umbrella of Meditation. According to our first guest, Yoga and Meditation Teacher and lawyer, Josh Cohen, “meditation is the state of being completely at one with what is arising in the present moment, such that the subject/object/ paradigm dissolves completely.” Also on this episode, mindfulness, meditation and movement instructor, speaker, and integrative coach Linda Janasz talks all about her experience with Mindfulness Meditation.. The show also features an audio clip and a discussion of Jon Kabat-Zinn reading from his book Mindfulness for Beginners – courtesy of Soundstrue.com. As well, we discuss the different ways we can meditate, from using a mantra, to practicing TM, (Transcendental Meditation) to using some of the wonderful meditation phone apps, such as the Serenity App, (which we have a clip of on the show) We also learn how, when, why and where to meditate, and how important it is to meditate daily to create a viable practice so that the average person can integrate and implement mindfulness into their lives.

Fertility and Finding Your Bliss

This week on Finding Your Bliss, we tackle Infertility. For many of us, bliss is having a family, but for one in six couples in Canada who suffer from infertility, this can be heartbreaking, painful and beyond stressful. Thanks to people like our first guest, Fertility specialist and reproductive endocrinologist Dr. Clifford Librach, who is the founder of Create Fertility Centre, many people are able to overcome this painful struggle and have a family of their own. Also on the show, we meet Fertility counsellor Jan Silverman who also personally struggled with infertility and helps other people with their struggle, and Dr. Mary Wong, registered traditional Chinese medicine practitioner and registered acupuncturist and author of Pathways to Pregnancy: personal stories and practical advice on your fertility journey.

The Bliss of Stand-Up Comedy

So welcome to our Comedy Club podcast this week on Finding Your Bliss when we feature celebrity comedienne, actress, writer and TV star Carla Collins, now making her home in Hollywood. She tells us what she’s been up to in L.A., we hear a track from her upcoming comedy album, find out all about her Carlawood reality series on Amazon Prime, and her dazzling new comedy meditation series. And we also meet up with a comedian who has been described as a tall glass of water and not only is he hilarious, but he is also a real class act. We talk to stand up comic Evan Carter later in the show. But first, we meet comedian Simon Rakoff, who is one of the most long standing comics on the Canadian scene, and still one of the funniest guys around!

Working With Family

On today’s show we’re talking about families who work together and the joys, sweat and tears that go with the territory of parents working with their children. He has also hosted his own radio show the “Dr. Joe Show” for 40 years in Montreal and is an expert at making sense out of the nonsense, exposing fake news, and answering all of our questions about food, diet, nutrition, health, aging and the chemistry of love. He also loves Musical Theatre and so he was thrilled to meet our next guest- singer, songwriter, actress and voiceover Queen Wendy Lands who also hails from Montreal. Wendy sings live on the show and tells us about her new one woman Musical cabaret show which is nominated for a Broadway world award.

Extraordinary Work in Cancer Research-ICRF
