When I started Boogie Babies, I knew I wanted to create something special—something that combined all the things I love most: dance, fitness, community, and the wonderful chaos of parenting. What I didn’t expect was just how joyful, how full of laughter and connection, and how downright blissful it would feel to bring moms (and sometimes dads!) together to dance, sweat, and bond with their babies.
Boogie Babies is mom and baby fitness with a twist. We don’t just do crunches and squats in a circle (although yes, your core will definitely get some love). Our classes are built around fun, easy-to-learn, low-impact dance routines that are designed for new parents. Think of it as your weekly dose of endorphins, rhythm, and camaraderie—with a baby in tow.
There’s something magical about dancing with your baby. Whether they’re snug in a carrier or wiggling beside you on a mat, the music, movement, and one-on-one time creates a bond that’s hard to replicate in any other setting. And the benefits for babies? Huge. The combination of rhythm and movement helps promote their cognitive development—plus, let’s be honest, nothing beats those squeals of delight when a colorful ribbon twirls past their face.
We’ve created three different class types to grow with your baby:
DanceFit is for our tiniest Boogie Babies—starting at just 6 weeks old (once you’ve got the all-clear from your healthcare provider). In this class, your baby is worn in a carrier while you learn fun, energetic routines that target your large muscle groups and focus on balance and cardio. It’s a great way to ease back into movement, and you won’t believe how quickly your strength builds up!
Flex & Strength is for babies who are too big to wear but not quite ready to follow along—usually from around 8 months to 2 years. These classes focus on—you guessed it—flexibility and strength, using your baby as your little workout buddy. We do short sequences with and around the babies, and spend plenty of time on the mat. Each class includes a little circle time, where the babies can engage with props like balls, ribbons, and music, and moms can connect over the highs and lows of parenting life.
Dance With Me is our class for toddlers aged 2 to 4—and this one’s a party. Here, we all dance together. Parents and toddlers learn the same simple moves and short routines (don’t worry, the toddlers freestyle a lot!), and we use toys and props to keep the little ones engaged. We play, we laugh, and we burn some serious energy.
No matter which class you join, one thing remains constant: community. Boogie Babies is about more than just getting in a good workout (although you’ll definitely feel it the next day!). It’s about helping parents—especially new moms—find their village. A place where you don’t have to pretend everything’s perfect, where you can celebrate the wins and laugh off the chaos. Where it’s okay if your baby spits up or your toddler melts down halfway through class—because chances are, someone else’s will too.
As a mom of two teenagers (where did the time go?!), I remember all too well the need for that kind of space. I taught mom and baby fitness classes during both of my maternity leaves and it brought me such comfort and connection. When I decided to make a career shift, Boogie Babies was a natural next step—blending my background in dance (I started at age 4 and began teaching at 14!), choreography, kinesiology, and occupational therapy into something that feels truly meaningful.
I’ve spent years performing, teaching, and choreographing in everything from community theatre productions to children’s performing arts companies, but nothing fills my cup quite like walking into a studio filled with bouncing babies, smiling toddlers, and parents moving their bodies with confidence and joy.
I see it every day in class: the moment a mom and baby lock eyes during a spin, the proud grin of a toddler nailing a new move, the laughter when two moms realize they’ve both been up since 4am. Those are the moments that matter.
