An Excerpt from Untapped Magic by Chloe Panta

If we want something bad enough, we’re going to do what it takes to make it happen. Even on days we don’t feel like it, we push through our resistance and we up-level our lives by getting it done. That’s called growth, that’s called persistence, that’s called consistency. That’s called mastery.

That’s called magic.

When we truly are the masters of our lives, we transform by quantum leaps and bounds, ready to overcome anything that comes our way.

We Homo sapiens are not here because of mere luck. We’ve outlived eight other species of human beings because we are strong. When it comes to getting what you want in this life, you must be strong. Strong in your mind, body, spirit, and soul. When everything is aligned internally, that is when everything begins to fall in place in your outside world and you begin to live the life of your dreams.

I can’t stress this enough: you will need to get comfortable being uncomfortable. When you begin to grow, you begin to up-level. Up-leveling requires doing things that you haven’t done before. That may mean speaking in front of a large group of people to be the next in line for director at your organization. Being uncomfortable may mean changing your eating habits to become healthier and to overcome any disease you may be facing. It may mean dumping your partner because they’re holding you back. It may mean downsizing your home so you can reduce your expenses and become cash rich and live below your means. It may mean going back to school after forty. It may mean moving across the country for a new, unexpected opportunity. It may mean coming out to your family. It may mean going against your old beliefs because they’ve changed. Whatever it is, you need to face your fears head-on and let them know who’s the boss. Because at the end of the day, you run the show. You get to decide how the movie’s going to end. You get to decide that it’s time for a change. When you take action and you’re willing to step out on faith, that’s when your life will never be the same again.

Another important thing to do when you’re changing your life is to surround yourself with people who are ready to cheer you on and support you in your goals and your journey. Lots of folks say, “You are the average of the five folks you spend the most time with.” Take a look at those folks. Are they people who you want to be like? Are they uplifting you, encouraging you, and working on their own goals and dreams? Folks who play small will stay small and will only make excuses, complain, and stay stuck in their current lives for years to come. If you’re constantly hanging around folks who are broke and poor and are cool with being broke and poor and stuck, well … you might need to take a look in the mirror. When you surround yourself with people who are on your team and who are inspiring and successful, it only fuels your fire to help you achieve your own dreams. There are plenty of people out there who are ready to support and encourage you to go after the life you want — and if they don’t, bench their ass and move on to the next.

It’s crucial to remember that when you’re creating your reality, it isn’t just about changing on the behavioral level, but about changing internally too. That’s where the real magic happens. The exercise below will help you do just that.

Magic action: Creating transformational change from the inside out

  1. Identify your goals.
Take time to identify what it is you really want in this life. This could be professional growth, financial stability, starting a new business or hobby, having an amazing relationship, etc. Get clear on this goal.
  2. Create a plan.
Once you know what it is that you want, create a plan. Write down what you want and your plan to achieve it. Break down your steps into bite-size actionable items that you can accomplish easily and effortlessly and check off your list.
  3. Go back to your childhood.
Return to chapter 13 to complete Magic Action, part 1, “Identifying Your Limiting Beliefs.” Repeat this step until you feel the weight fall off your shoulders and know that you can carry on to the next step in this Magic Action.
  4. Develop self-awareness.
As you transform through your life, you’ll notice you will start to feel different, act different, and become different. Spend time on your personal growth by reflecting on your thoughts, actions, and behaviors. Identify and write down any patterns that may be holding you back.
  5. Challenge your way of thinking.
Limiting beliefs can keep us stuck. If we’re trying to break through barriers, we have to remove feelings of scarcity. Replace your lower thought energetics with higher thought energetics that uplift and empower you.
  6. Overcome roadblocks along the way.
There will be tests. You will face obstacles. It’s the Universe’s way of making sure we’re prepared for what’s coming and that it’s really what we want. If you feel there’s a block that’s keeping you from getting what you want, persevere and overcome it. It could come in the form of a lower-paying job that might be blocking the higher-paying job we’re calling in. It could be a partner who has some of the qualities we seek, but not all of them. Overcome these roadblocks by standing firm in your beliefs and by focusing on what you truly want and knowing that you deserve it and that it is coming. If you pass the test by saying no to the lesser thing, you become receptive to even greater abundance.
  7. Surround yourself with amazing folks.
These can be people you aspire to be like, folks you look up to, or friends and family who support you and encourage you along your journey. These are the people who can uplift you when you’re feeling stuck, who can cheer you on to keep going and not give up on your dreams.
  8. Take aligned action steps.
When you’re operating from your Authentic Self, taking consistent steps, no matter how small, toward your goals equals transformation. This puts you in alignment with where you want to go in life.
  9. Celebrate your wins.
Celebrate each win along the way, whether big or small. If it’s moving to the second round of interviews for your dream job, congratulate yourself. If it’s getting pre-qualified for your new home loan, be excited about the progress you’ve made. If it’s booking your one-way flight across the country to live your dream life in your dream city, be proud of yourself for taking that huge leap forward. This will keep you motivated and allow you to continue to take aligned action toward achieving your goals.
