September is here—and suddenly, everything seems to be starting at once. The alarm clocks are ringing earlier, the calendars are filling up, the traffic is getting heavier and everyone appears to be racing to get somewhere. But before you get swept up in the rush, I want you to pause, take a deep breath and ask yourself: How do I want to feel and how do I want to be this September?
Not what do you need to accomplish? Not how many things can you squeeze into your day? But how do you actually want to feel?
Do you want to feel calmer? More organized? More energized? More present? What is one habit you would love to begin—or begin again? What have you been postponing that you could finally take one small step towards this week?
September can feel like a fresh notebook: a beautiful blank page inviting you to begin again. But remember, you do not have to reinvent your entire life by Monday morning. Choose one priority. Make one appointment. Clear one drawer. Take one walk. Send one email. Go to bed half an hour earlier. Small, intentional steps can create powerful momentum.
And if you already feel behind, please hear this: you are not behind. You are simply beginning from where you are—and that is always the right place to begin.
So, let this be your September survival plan: protect your peace, simplify what you can, stop expecting perfection and celebrate every bit of progress. You are more capable than you realize, and this new season is filled with possibilities you cannot see yet.
Take a breath, trust yourself and step forward. You’ve got this—and your bliss may be waiting just around the corner.
As you begin this new fall Back to School season, think about doing some breathing exercises. I have a great one for you that I’m calling Your September Reset Breath. Here it is:
When your day feels rushed or overwhelming, stop and give yourself one quiet minute.
Place one hand over your heart and the other on your belly. Relax your shoulders and soften your jaw.
Breathe in gently through your nose for a count of four…
1… 2… 3… 4…
Then breathe out slowly through your mouth for a count of six…
1… 2… 3… 4… 5… 6…
Repeat this five times. With every inhale, silently say: “I am here.” With every exhale, say: “I let go.”
As you breathe, imagine creating a little more space between you and everything demanding your attention. You do not need to solve the entire day in this moment. You only need to take your next breath—and then your next small step.
