Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/4 cups flour
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt (skip or reduce if butter is salted)
- 3/4–1 cup chocolate chips or chunks
- Flaky sea salt (for finishing)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Melt butter (microwave or stovetop), let it cool slightly.
- Mix wet ingredients
- Stir butter + sugars until smooth, then mix in egg + vanilla.
- Add dry ingredients
- Mix in flour, baking soda, and salt until just combined.
- Fold in chocolate
- Scoop dough
- 1.5–2 tbsp per cookie, spaced out (they will spread).
- Bake for 10-12 minutes
- Edges: golden
- Centers: still soft (they’ll set as they cool)
- Immediately sprinkle flaky sea salt on top
- Cool on tray for ~5 mins, then transfer to a rack
